I currently maintain a large studio of private students from age 4 to adult. I enjoy teaching all ages:
Young beginners (4 ½ yrs. and up)
Transfer students
Teens: Beginners through advanced
Adults: Beginners through advanced
Like the great master-teacher Shinichi Suzuki, I believe that everyone has the capacity to acquire the ability to play a musical instrument!
Every student and family may have different goals for their study of piano, but the guiding philosophy of my studio is that all of my students reach their highest potential--whether they are aspiring concert artists, hobbyists, adults, or just looking for music as part of a well-rounded education.
Like Suzuki I believe that if you train children to a high level of excellence in a field like music, they will want to seek that same level of excellence in the other areas of their lives: from the literature they enjoy, to the arts, sciences, athletics they participate in --and in the fields of study they choose for their careers.
With the unique one-on-one tutoring that private music study provides, I hope to show each student what excellence he or she can attain.
LESSONS FOR CHILDREN
Lessons include theory, note-reading, technique, music history, and various performance and competitive opportunities.
There are four components to my studio program:
1. Private lesson – 30 or 40 or 50 minutes
2. Lab – 30 minutes spent with computer software, DVD’s and CD’s to reinforce and expand on material from the private lesson
3. Group Performance Classes – informal recitals held several times each year to provide performance practice
4. Performances-- Participation in competitions and festivals in the Baton Rouge area.
LESSONS FOR ADULTS
My adult students include busy professionals as well as parents (and even some grandparents!) of my school-age students who want lessons of their own. Some are beginners and others are “re-starters.” Lessons for adult students cover the same essentials taught to all of my students with a wide variety of styles of music.
If you are interested in lessons please contact me for an interview to discuss studio policies, tuition, and scheduling.
